Both book series have created major buzz. Once a movie is made based on a book, merchandise is soon to follow. Everything from clothing to pencils. What we will probably see in the future is a hand off of time from one series to the other. Right now Twilight is in the theater, but soon a new Harry Potter will come out to steal the attention. To my knowledge, a new twilight will come out in 2010.

Twilight and Harry Potter

I have not read either books, but I have seen a few of the Harry Potter movies. I think that Twilight could gain the popularity that Harry Potter has, however it might not last as long because of the fact that there are only a few books in the Twilight series and there are 8 in the Harry Potter series. The thing that could make Twilight not gain the popularity of Harry Potter would be that Harry Potter is targeted towards boys and girls, while Twilight was written more for a female audience.

Two of the biggest book series in the United States have been Harry Potter and Twilight, and now both of them have been made into movies.

My personal opinion is that the Twilight series will never gain the fame or popularity that Harry Potter had. This is due mainly to the wide variety of people that Harry Potter appeals to. No matter your gender or age group, Harry Potter can be enjoyed by everyone. Twilight on the other hand has some mature themes that make it innapropriate for young readers. It is also mainly a love story, so teenage girls make up the majority of readers. The Twilight movie may have more success than the books for appealing to different age groups because it also shows some intense action scenes that may attract some boys. Also, people who don't like to read will probably see the movie so they can know what everyone is talking about without reading the book.
